Growing a Robust Economy:

1. Supporting Local Businesses:  I will put forward legislation creating tax incentives for contractors, home builders and store owners who purchase their inventory and supplies from Oregon-made businesses. This can be one of the most powerful tools we can use to grow a local economy. Stop bleeding our hard-earned paychecks out of state.  My Mom-and-Pop-Shop legislation is ready to work for you.

2. Oregon Retail Online: I will present the implementation of Oregon Retail Online. An opportunity to give Oregon’s local businesses a leg up.  An online platform and shopping experience solely meant to expand retail sales of our local businesses. Oregon’s eCommerce needs to step it up.

3. Small Businesses: The lifeblood of any community is the strength of its local small businesses. I want to make it easier for these businesses to thrive. Educate them on the Right To Repair Act. Funding tools to help small businesses grow. Loosening zoning laws so communities can prosper. Tax credits for purchasing locally. Easing start-up restrictions. Ways to help prevent property theft. Everything’s on the table to help your business thrive.

4. Oregon’s Art and Culture: I will encourage new start-ups in the arts. Music, theater, comedy, paintings, sculptures, novels, short stories, documentaries, animation…everything and anything in the arts and entertainment, you will feel supported. We speak the same language. Your creativity is what helps to give Oregon its culture. This is another great way to help enrich Oregon’s economy through the arts. When venues, galleries and theaters prosper, so does Portland as a whole.

5.  Affordable Housing: A strong economy also comes from building more affordable houses. A healthy affordable housing market equals a healthy local economy. The thousands of items that go into the creation of these homes can strengthen the local economy when used in conjunction with my Mom and Pop Shop legislation.

6. The Oregon Star Road: I will introduce my economic powerhouse, the Oregon Star Road. The Oregon Star Road will be a detailed driving map in the shape of a star, well…kinda. This map will highlight places of interest that will stretch from north to south and east to west enticing eager road-trippers to travel all across our beautiful state. Fishing spots, hotels, local restaurants, gift shops, parks, river-front cabins, sightseeing, camping, waterfalls, bed-n-breakfasts, cafes, music venues and some of the best shopping from our boutique hidden-gem Oregon stores. The goal is simple: To expand economic growth and create new jobs by making Oregon a destination for roadtrippers and tourism.
